So Long…

From December 11th, 2006, I will be starting a new job as a web developer at Yahoo! UK.

Having spent 6 years working for Rentokil Initial, I want to take this opportunity to say thanks to all the people I’ve worked with. My time hasn’t been totally clear sailing but I have learnt many valuable lessons - about web development, working for a large corporate business, working in a team environment and dealing with politics.

I have been allowed great freedom to develop my skills and to indulge my passion for web development - which ultimately helped me introduce new tools, techniques and technologies to the web development team and, eventually (I think), awarded me the role of senior web developer.

I have enjoyed a vocal, argumentative relationship with my line manager, that only ever benefited the team; and that, thankfully, was never held against me. I’ve also worked with some fantastic people and been a part of some great web development teams. I’ve learnt a great many things from a great many people, so thanks guys; it’s been a pleasure.

So, as I move on to new horizons, I bid you all farewell and hope that you at least attempt to stay in touch.

In the words of the late, great Douglas Adams (I’m not sure of the relevance, but I love the quote):

So long, and thanks for all the fish…
